Why translate the world?
As a Full Stack software developer, I've been fortunate to work on multiple projects for different platforms and with various technologies. However, when it came time to take the next step and globalize projects, reaching more users in the simplest way possible without language barriers getting in the way, I found a great challenge.
One of the biggest challenges has been unifying translations with software development. For many, translating a project is simply creating a JSON file with keys and values, or even using a translator and doing it manually. Believe me, I've tried, and over time it becomes unsustainable.
I also tried managing translations in an Excel or spreadsheet to keep things organized, and although it works, it still isn't a viable long-term solution. Keeping translations consistent without losing context, without breaking functionality, and ensuring everything keeps flowing with development is much more complex than it seems.
If we analyze the problem in depth, it's not just about translating words, but about integrating translations with the development environment efficiently, allowing agility and flexibility. Ideally, we would automate this process or be able to delegate it without affecting productivity.
A challenge worth tackling
After creating some internal versions of tools to facilitate this process, I realized this could be useful for more people. As a freelancer, I've dealt with this problem many times, and I know the need for a friendly and sustainable solution is real.
The goal is clear: globalize projects in a simple and accessible way, regardless of whether it's:
- A basic HTML page.
- Mobile applications.
- Desktop applications.
- Advanced web applications.
In short, any project that has the potential to reach people who speak different languages.
How to solve it?
To address this problem, I'm developing packages for different frameworks and platforms. The idea is that, with minimal installation and configuration, any developer can globalize their project effortlessly.
My first version is already available and includes a web admin panel, where you can:
- View the texts uploaded by our packages.
- Edit and add new languages from an intuitive dashboard.
- Automatically synchronize translations with your project's code, without needing to modify it manually.
- Edit translations from our admin panel.
While I would love to make this project Open Source, it is currently not possible due to maintenance costs. However, I don't rule out this possibility in the future.
Translate Projects is free: you only need your AI provider's API key. If you have questions or suggestions, you can share them in our forum: Go to the forum. I'd be happy to read your ideas and answer any questions.
Translating the world is not just a technical matter, it is an act of accessibility and globalization. I'm convinced that with the right tools, we can make technology reach more people, in a more inclusive way and without barriers. 🚀🌍
